PayDouble
Luis “PAYPAY” Acosta (born August 6, 1986) is a Cuban
American recording artist and songwriter from Miami, Florida. Raised by his teenage mother and grandmother in Hialeah during the late 1980s and early 1990s, PAYPAY grew up immersed in Cuban culture at a time when the city was largely populated by Cuban exiles.
At the age of seven, PAYPAY and his family relocated from Hialeah and moved through several neighborhoods across Miami. He discovered his passion for music early, writing his first songs at just eight years old. As he matured, his songwriting skills sharpened, and by age thirteen he began recording in studios.
In 2004, PAYPAY faced a turning point in his life following a minor arrest that forced him to leave his home. At seventeen, with limited options, he moved in with his childhood friend SEDD in Perrine’s Rainbow City. The experience required him to adapt quickly to a new environment, one that would play a major role in shaping both his character and his music.
In 2005, PAYPAY and SEDD officially formed the rap group SECTION8HUD. Working independently, they released multiple projects over the years, steadily building a loyal and growing fan base. As the music industry shifted from physical sales to digital streaming and downloads, the duo made a strategic decision to take control of their creative future.
In 2012, they founded H.U.D. ENT. (Hold Us Down Entertainment), an independent entertainment company created to protect their catalog and distribute their music across all major platforms.
